I am the owner of Murphy, a blue faced Amazon. My daughter lives in Canada and we have done some research into bringing Murphy to visit her. We even went so far as going inside at the Canadian border and also making a phone call to the border. Both results were the same. We were told that in order to cross the border with Murphy we would have to arrange for a vet to be there both going and coming for a charge of $50 each time to check out Murphy. Murphy travels very well and actually goes back and forth to Florida with us every year. Unfortunately, we have opted not to bring him to Canada because of the expense, but also if they did find something wrong with him and wouldn't let us take him across, we'd have to return home. We now have a house sitter that stays with Murphy. According to Canadian officials, this is all because blue faced Amazons are considered an endangered species. Murphy is 22 years old and was actually born in the Amazon.
