I just inherited an amazon from my aunt and have a few questions. She has pulled out some feathers, not a lot but a few a day, is this something for me to be concerned with? I know she has suffered a little "emotional trauma" in the last few weeks. My aunt was a very special person when it came to animals and every pet she had she loved very deeply and they loved her as much. Lily the bird also was very close to my aunts 4 rottweilers, she rode on there backs everyday. She also had to ride on 2 airplanes to get here to me so I know that was scary for her as well. I just was hoping for some advice on helping her adjust to her new home and keeping her healthy.
I was also wondering she seems to really become fond of my husband, when he picks her up she seems to coo at him, shake her tail feathers at him and bob up and down happily. She also "grooms" his arm hair and mustache. When he puts her down her pupils constrict to pinpoints and she squawks real loud. Do these behaviors seem normal?
