Posted by Jeanne on 7/18/2005, 5:28 am, in reply to "Amazon or African Grey" --Previous Message-- I have two Amazons, one 4 1/2 year old Yellow Nape and one 25 year old Red Lored. The yellow nape, Max, has been with me since he was a year old. He's very well adjusted, he is friendly with everyone in the house, but he definitely is more bonded to me. When I first got him I was living with my fiance and he was equally bonded to both of us. Amazons are great birds. So are African Greys. I think as long as you and your husband both spend equal time with him and show equal amounts of attention, discipline, feeding time, quality time, etc. all should be fine. Amazons are definitely more easily adaptable to things though. And Max is equally clever to any African Grey I've met (I volunteer at a bird rescue so I see many, many birds). Max, my yellow nape, talks and sings A LOT and he's only 4 1/2 years old. He never ceases to amaze me. I would definitely advise you to look more into an Amazon. Good luck!! Jean

: Hello

: My husband and I are interested in
: one of the more intelligent, social
: parrots. My research indicates that
: the Amazon and African Grey both fit
: this description. The more important
: issue is whether or not either of
: these birds, or maybe another, could
: bond with both of us? Has anyone any
: information on this subject?
