Posted by dana Purcell I just received a Red Headed Mexican from someone that was moving and couldn't take him with her. He is 28ish years old. He is "wild stock" as she refered to him, meaning he was caught and brought to the states before it was illegal. He can be held and talks a bit. He HATES being petted, so he thinks. He won't let you put your hand up to him to get pet but if you can actually pet him he loves it. I can pet his beak and feet. I am working on getting him to be a lover. I will let him sit on my shoulder but would never let him near my face. He will bite semi hard just because he wants to. He also yells... a lot. He has mellowed out. We have had him for a week. He begs. I never knew a bird would beg, it isn't cute. He yells so loud you just can't ignore him. We have tried to cover him to hush him up but it doesn't work. We have tried a squirt bottle but he likes it. So any ideas would be great. Do they make shock collars for loud birds like the kind they make for dogs? Just kidding. We will work through this. Any info in red head mexicans would be helpful too. I don't seem to be able to find much. I might be having a "stupid day".
