Posted by Darrin My question is simply I want to make sure that he is happy and comfortable, regardless if that is with me or someone else. My agreement with the resuce person is that he is basically on permanent loan to me. I have read a lot about the enourmous amount of time Amazon's require to remain well-adjusted. As I do work, the bird is by alone during the work day. As he seems to be, for most part, a solitary creature, it seems to be working. I have, however, only had him for about eight days. All I know of his past is that he had not been out of his cage for about three years until very recently. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I recently was fortunate enough to adopt a rescue Double Yellow-Headed Amazon. Overall he seems to be a great bird. He is very quiet, never screams or yells. He just started talking, about 30 minutes ago he started saying "hello," "hi," and "how are you." He is, however, very cage agressive, but once he is off his cage, he seems to like being held and sctrached.
