Posted by Al Andrus How much of the fleet is left? I know most of the boats by sail number. My dear friend Dick Evans owned number 397 and sailed with his wife Patsy Evans. We owned a Laser #47420 too that was very successful when sailed by my son Ken. We had a Venture 25 that we moored at the east end of the docks. I would like to find out how many of the skips are still around. The only other fleets I knew of were in Texas and Michigan. Al Andrus.

Barry, I wonder if you know about Skipjack with the sail number 398. I used to own it and sold it to Bob Massey as we left Alaska in 1986. It was bought new I presume from John McKinnon by Charlie Brown. His son dumped the mast and made a hole in the cockpit which he patched and was very seaworthy. I looked at the performance of the skipjacks and found it very close to that of the 505. It was a very neat boat and I only dumped it 3 times. I had a lightweight jib made for it by a lady at the lake North & East of Chugiak that called her business Belmonte Sails. Maybe it was mirror lake.
