I'm assuming you do face-painting by hand, what you're refering to is probably airbrushed face-painting using stencils and airbrush waterbased make-up. As the product is sprayed extremely thinly rather than sponged or painted on it give an extremely sheer finish with no smearing. If left unwashed it will fade like an airbrushed tattoo but being a face-paint/make-up, it is designed to come off with soap and water at the end of the day. - you may possible get away with a quick splash in a paddling pool but I wouldn't call it swimproof. As a parent I would be horrified if my child's face paint couldn't be removed gently with soap and water. Next time you come accross these people ask them how the hell you get it off. Reading between the lines I'm assuming that you judge these people to be endangering their customers - without further information I doubt anybody can really help you. You can spray anything through an airbrush providing it's thin enough. Who knows what they're using - did you ask? If you are interested in product - check out the main site of this forum - www.trendytribals.com for facial stencils and products and the ABA makeup at www.airbrushbodyart.com These products are spefically designed for this sole purpose and are FDA approved so there is categorically no toxitiy issue. I stand to be corrected here but I do not believe that there is a toxicity issue but rather a dermatological one using alcohol based tattoo inks on the face - if it won't make your arm drop off, your face won't fall off either. Alcohol based tattoo inks are designed to be water resistant and last up to a week. - I beleive the issue why they are not advocated for facial use that is you will need alcohol to remove them - which is particulary harsh and drying to facial skin can be alot more sensitive than that on your body - all good facial cleanser/toners pertain to alcohol-free for this very reason. Perhaps Steph or Michael Davy could shed some light on a waterproof face make-up/paint. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes Pat
