It is very true that with a good ink a little does go a longggg way. And good inks do not have to be expensive! One thing I would suggest is to avoid specialty art or beauty supply shops which tend to have a high markup (you pay for convenience in being able to take it with you right away). Order it online from a reputable company like TT or ABA. I've tried a few of the less expensive inks and you soon find out why they are so cheap: they don't last, they clog the gun, diluted color, etc. Stick with a reputable brand and the just be selective in your shopping. I lucked out as I have a buddy who also does tats and we split the costs of a few of the larger bottles and even some of the smaller bottles that we won't much of the color. When I look at the costs of my equipment (stencils, ABs, etc) the cost of ink is relatively small. I'm just glad tat inks don't cost the same as inks for my inkjet printers!!!
