Red tailed african grey

I bought the woody from a friend - woody is 3 years old. I have tried to tame this birds but have not been successful. It makes such loud noise when someone passes his cage or when feeding him. I don't know what to do anymore. How can i make him into a fun loving family pet. everyone does not like woody because of the loud noise he makes.
