I don't think you can ever plan too far ahead, when your dates are confirmed you start preparing properly, but basically Flagstaff and most of the work regions has 2 seasons, hot and cold. Hot is very hot (some places well over 100 degrees) Cold is very cold (I've just been sent home from a project in Navajo National Monument because we had around 6 inches of snow in a day)
Winter starts mid-to-late October, and runs through March.
Projects could be pretty much anywhere, so there will be some hot places in winter as well. You basically just need to be ready for anything and you'll be fine.
