Hey,
It's funny. Just yesterday I replied on the message board in a quasi-philosophical babble about how every project can be positive and every project can be negative and that it all depends on your mindset. Right on cue, Kyle, who was a great volunteer, very well suited to aggressive physical labor, and who never spent so much as one day on a California project wrote that the projects in CA are boring. I don't mind that people have opinions, but take them with a grain of salt. Kyle possesses a mountain of muscle and a mentality suited for the most labor intensive of ACE's projects. If anyone was to denounce revegetation projects as boring, he would be a great candidate. Further, there are also trails projects in CA. Since January we have sent a crew to the backcountry of Ventana Wilderness and to build check dams on Catalina Island. It is true that to this point there have been more weeding and planting projects in California than Arizona, in part because Santa Cruz County has a huge diversity of native species and the most endemic species of any county in the country. Anyway, I don't mind Kyle expressing his opinion and I chuckle to read it, but I do hope that volunteers retain the independence of thought to determine for themselves if a project is enjoyable, not to mention the positive outlook to make any worthwhile project rewarding.
adios
