hi, i've got the same issue going on in June. I arrive around 20.00h June 19th and my Belgian designated sponsor adviced me to stay the night in phoenix and take the shuttle to Flag the next day, since i still would have to go through customs and all that. What should i expect from above described 'unfriendly areas' ? should i fear to get mugged or something? I can't imagine it to be this bad?
furthermore, should i book a room up front in Flagstaff then? which hostel/motel do you guys recommend?
last but not least: i heard something about busfares going up depending on how late in the evening you take the bus? is that true?
