I'm embarrassed to admit, particularly in a public forum, that I was once dragged into such a venture. 10 years ago my girlfriend had broken up with me so my friends thought that for some inexplicable reason it would be therapeutic to find the Playboy mansion in Hollywood. So we wandered around in my ancient Honda until we came upon the gated, guarded, and utterly uninteresting mansion. I'm not sure what any of us expected, but I'm pretty sure we thought we would be whisked in for a tour, perhaps treated as VIP guests at a pool party. Instead we stared expectantly at the gate, as if an encouraging voice was about to come over a loudspeaker inviting us in, until we finally shrugged our shoulders and drove away feeling rather stupid. I imagine that tracking down most Hollywood stars would be equally inspiring.
