Hey Dani,
I appreciate your passion and concern for both the environment and ACE. I always have to remind myself that ACE's role is not to influence policy or get involved in politics. We are just here to help where needed, not to advocate politically. Of course I hope those Parks stay open, but I really don't think we have much to worry about. I imagine it is quite a complex issue trying to shut down a Park and one that will probably get held up in all sorts of courtrooms until they just give up on the idea. Even if they do get shut down, I doubt they will be sold to developers. Most likely they will be donated to land trusts or open space districts, who may even have the resources to manage them in a more efficient and environmentally conscious manner. Maybe I'm an optimist, but I just don't see those lands being ruined with shopping malls and housing complexes. In any case, thanks for keeping an eye on the newspapers for stories affecting ACE. See you back in CA.
