A number of years back, if you speak to some of the older hunters, they will tell you that both the New York State DEC and the Pennsylvania Game Commission released several Cougars in an attempt to reduce Whitetailed Deer numbers. The pressure to reduce the numbers was coming from the Auto insurance companies, who were paying alot of claims(which they hate to do)involving motor vehicle / deer accidents. Even though there have been numerous Mountain Lion sightings throughout the years, these organizations continue to deny that this experiment ever took place, probably due to liability. Peace, Mike
