That feat separated him from Ricky Craven, Randy LaJoie and Wally Dallenbach Jr., his immediate predecessors in the car. It was not, however, enough to save NadeauÂ’s job. After a weekend at Richmond rife with rumors and the departure of longtime crew chief Tony Furr a couple of weeks before that, Nadeau officially stepped aside May 8. Nadeau almost won twice at Atlanta. In the 2001 season finale, Nadeau was leading again when he ran out of gas on the final lap, handing the victory to Bobby Labonte. "Jerry has shown some flashes of brilliance while driving for us over the past two and a half years," said John Hendrick, who heads up the NASCAR operations of his brother Rick. "As a team, we just have not been able to find the kind of consistency that it takes to be successful in this ever-increasingly competitive sport." Link: Gaston Gaaette
Jerry Nadeau was the only guy to win a race in Hendrick MotorsportsÂ’ No. 25 Chevrolet between June 2, 1991, and the present.
