Of course, in Lian Dao's case I had to give him the position just to quiet his sniveling, petulant temper tantrums. The Eastern concept of the Universe is that it is eternal. If not as a one time event, as an oscillating one. Reincarnation if you will. But modern Science has ruled out an oscillating Universe. Not enough energy or mass. Our Universe is a one time event that had a beginning, and will have an end. Unless something "Super" natural steps in and changes the natural course of events. The longest lasting stars burn for about 80 Billion years. 80 Billion years might be a long time in dog years, but compared to Eternity it is a blink. I am finding it harder and harder to believe that it just happened. That there was or is not some kind of a Creator that existed before our Universe did. I see design everywhere I look. What to me amounts to nothing less than the fingerprints of the Tao on everything, the fingerprints of the Creator, of God if you will. Butcho  Post a Response

I have to believe that life is good and worth living, for example, otherwise I bleed to death when I cut myself in the yard. Dao-centered thought seems to encompass all manner of belief, holding them all equally valid--and equally invalid--in the same moment. At least that's how I understand it. I personally have no problem with your or anyone else's belief in God. My life companion is a devout, church-going Catholic. My 'problem' is with the intrusion of personally-held religious/spiritual belief into the public sector. Talk of Intelligent Design causes me to break out in hives because history has shown that those who advocate for it are generally not tolerant of other views and the people who hold them. Just because you look around you and see how wonderfully everything works together, why would that insinuate the existence of a God or Creator who made it happen that way? Simple evolution decides which things will continue to exist and which will perish. Mourn the losses or praise the existent? Doesn't make a hill of beans, does it? You are where you are, and everything else is where it is. But then...... If believing something or someone has a Master Plan makes you live a happier life.............
