I popped back in today to see if the sneering insults that have spoiled this forum had stopped, they haven't. I've been the particular target for yours for a very long time, and have not once responded with personal attack or insult, but with respect. "Attack the issue, never the person", my daddy taught me that. I only posted on the chance you care what kind of footsteps you leave as you go throught the world, and are really unaware of how insulting you often are, and might really consider there might be a better way of relating. There is no downside to treating others with respect, and the considerable upside of promoting good will. Treating others with derision has considerable downsides, TTC: "Brambles spring up where the army has passed". I'm not staying to discuss it, this isn't the place for me any more...or really for anyone who love Taoist philosophy. You've become so possessive of your practice that even the slightest critique--the slightest whimsical comment--sets you aflame. Your practice has become a prized 'thing,' a prized possession. There are Buddhist ones populated by basically viscious and terminal nuerotics and others that as you say rat, are modulated along almost fascist lines. As for Daoist ones well erm, they don't exactly grow on trees. i can assure everyone here that this place is practically an oasis and the more hissy fits that are thrown and doors banged than the less people post and the sooner Tao Speaks shuts down. Quite a view from here. Very holistic perspective of Earth. From here all is indeed a unitive one. I don't see any lines drawn between one area and another. All I see are areas of confluence between one aspect of Earth and another. Mountain ranges, beaches, and such. Very metaphysical from up here. If I were an Alien that had never been on Earth before I would think I had just found Heaven. But we know better. There is something wrong with our world today, you can see it in our eyes. We're livin' on the edge and there are those among us doing everything they can to get us to go over it. People that have given up on their own lives and want everyone else to join them. Misery loves company. And yet, this isn't the worst of it. There are those that simply want to get other people to go over the edge so they can have more. Instigators. It does no good to placate such types. They are incorrigable. Such types constantly belittle and criticize every little imperfection they see in others. And when this is brought to their attention they feign sincerity by pointing out that they are imperfect as well. That they don't mean anything by being mean spirited. These types of people have always been around, or so it seems to me. What is amazing is that there are so many willing to encourage such negativity. All in the name of freedom of speech... What about the responsibility that goes along with freedom of speech. Can we really say we believe in freedom of speech if we don't link it to responsibility? All I know is about such matters is when we allow people to yell fire in a crowded theater we encourage them to do it again, and again, and again. All the while hoping they will get tired of being irresponsible. But some people never weary of being selfish. They just become more and more selfish, unless checked by others. What was that? Sorry gotta go, the Space Station has regular maintenance that has to be done and I must take my turn. No free rides on the Space Station. Everyone pulls their weight. Or they are sent packing. Unlike places in cyberspace that threaten the responsible as well as the irresponsible with banishment, here it is only the irresponsible that are singled out for deportation. The harmony either comes from within, or it does not come. In my experience, boards that attempt to enforce harmony do so through imposed 'correct-speak,' fear of ostracism, and obedience to local masters. Such boards often become cults of personality centered around the guru-in-charge. Josef and I occasionally go at it, tension gets released, and then equilibrium reestablishes itself. Unless one is a flat-liner, one experiences these kinds of interpersonal cycles from time to time in ordinary life. They're often undesirable, these human cycles of ours, but they happen. What is a fart? I asked one of the Space Station engineers and he said it is against International Space Station Protocol to fart in the Space Station. That it can actually create a safety hazard. So now I am afraid of doing something that might cause me to get banned from the ISS--that is what we call the International Space Station up here.
