: can laozi's dao be noble - beautiful - ugly
: -
: evil - benevolent? ... absolute?
:
: -----------------
:
: From my (Steve's) perspective, I think yes.
: Nature can seem brutal at times (a tsunami)
: or benevolent (a newborn baby).
:
: From the perspective of the dao, I think the
: tsunami and the baby are undifferentiated.
: One and the same. An ongoing, evolving
: process. They are both "coming into
: being" and "going out of
: being," simultaneously and beyond any
: distinctions my human mind can draw.
:
: When I look closely, I can sense both
: perspectives at play in the same moment.
:
: How such a thing is possible is a great
: mystery.

Steve's perspective is interesting
Steve's nature reflects emotionally natural events...
Steve personalizes dao - giving it a perspective.. a view... reflecting Steve's ability for understanding dao
and enjoys the mystery...
But is it laozi's dao?
in ddj 25 we can find a description of laozi's idea of dao...
describing it as ji4 寂
the old version
points to its essential feature
the interaction of matter (roof + vertical line) and energy (wave)
it is before heaven and earth...
dao is in heaven and earth - but heaven and earth is not dao..
"all chinese are humans - but: all humans are not chinese"
dao is in Steve's emotions - but Steve's emotions are not dao4
dao is in gold and shit - but gold and shit are not dao4...

in xiuzhen tu one can find these symbols
雨 + 斗 + 火
雨 + 亘 + 月
雨 + 肉 + 月
i understand it as an explanation for 常 / 恆 道 chang2 / heng2 dao4
dou3 斗 is big dipper + polar star - symbolizing a centering power
亘
A boat passing from 一 one bank to the 一 other... or a spiral between influencing poles
- you can interprete it as yang
肉 matter
you can interprete it as yin
everything in this world seems to be an interaction of energy and matter trying to maintain a center...
is it absolute? - interaction ...- is it absolute?
yi yin yi yang zhi wei dao
i think:
there is no emotion...
