thats exactly the problem for understanding...
it is a problem to work out laozi's original idea of "dao" within all this big amount of different translations and understandings in different groups - mixed with buddhist ideas ... christian ideas and so on..

sometimes i have the feeling that the daoist traditions in the different schools and the commentators rooting in confucian tradition as Wang Bi have done a lot in changing the original idea of laozi's dao...
