Bao Pu - hello! My what an old thread you found to bring to the fore (-: Mind if I jump in?
--Previous Message--
: "Act according to your nature"
: seems to me to be along the same lines as
: "act in harmony with the Dao."
: This interpretations implies that it is
: possible to act contrary to your nature. Is
: this possible?
:
For me, it's possible to act contrary to my nature - but not for very long. For example, I could get a job in a factory and do repetitive work over and over and over until I went insane or died. Factory work is not in my nature. But factory work might be part of someone else's nature to do and maybe even enjoy!
Dao is in harmony with all things, imo, not just what one person might prefer/find easier/etc. When we act according to our nature, we're acting in harmony with that part of Dao that aligns with us. It would be rather presumptious of me to think that Dao should only align itself with what I prefer. LOL
warmest regards (-:
