: josef the dead,
:
: One must die to self before one can be born
: again. "Angels can fly because they
: take themselves lightly!" G.K.
: Chesterton. My fourth favorite Catholic
: behind you, Teilhard de Chardin, and Pope
: John Paul.
:
: The name of this website is Tao Speaks. Not
: josef speaks, not even Butcho speaks.
: Imagine that.
:
: So it seems to me that whatever we say here
: we should keep in mind what the Tao might
: say before we say whatever it is we have to
: say. I always do as much. Yes I do. Ok, most
: of the time. Ok, some of the time. Oh
: alright, once in a while I gets lucky.
:
: Personally, I don't think the Tao speaks in
: relative terms. So it probably doesn't have
: a lot of Bao Pu to say. But then there is a
: difference between succinctness and
: oversimplification. Between being a wayfarer
: and a tourist. Maybe I will write a Sermon
: about as much someday... Maybe not.
:
: In my opinion to be concerned about being
: open to one relative understanding being
: possibly superior to another is the mark of
: one that has not directly experienced the
: Tao. There are no stages of understanding
: where Realization of the Supreme Knowledge
: is concerned. "From the first not a
: thing is." Hui-Neng. That's it. The
: supreme knowledge. From the first totality
: is a unitive one. The perennial philosophy
: in a nutshell. The Father and I are a
: unitive one. Man in the microcosm is the Tao
: in the Macrocosm. There is only the whole. A
: whole greater than the sum of our
: understanding. The whole that is not a thing
: and yet is everything. The Self of
: existence. Rivers are rivers because they
: have no self. Even a dog has Buddha nature.
: There is no hierarchy where the whole is
: concerned. All hierarchy's are relative.
: Call no man Father. Stand on your own two
: feet.
:
: To know the Tao is to know all for all is an
: expression of the Tao. Each of us is a part
: of that which has no parts. As is every
: seeming thing. Mountains are mountains by
: virtue of their own inherent emptiness. The
: same Void that is in them is in a dog is in
: a man or woman is in a flower is in the
: dung.
:
: The Void that is void of conceptualization.
: The Tao for lack of a better word. I AM THAT
: I AM by another.
:
: It is said that the Buddha spent the last
: forty years of his life talking about not
: talking. Talking about non-conceptual
: realization. Have a flower.
:
: The Taoist adept does not read the Times,
: the relativity's, to find out what is going
: on. The Taoist adept knows what is going on
: by reading the eternity's, the Tao Te Ching,
: the Sermon on the Mount, the Diamond Sutra,
: the Shobogenzo, the Sutra of Hui-neng, the
: Journey to the Interior of Basho, Meister
: Eckhart, and so on. And most importantly, by
: reading the Book of Nature. We are, the Tao
: is, a synergetic organic unity. Well,
: actually the Tao is no such thing, but it is
: like a synergetic organic unity. We can say
: what Reality is like, not what it is. An eye
: cannot see itself, pure consciousness cannot
: conceive itself. The Tao is ineffable.
:
: The doctrine of the sages cannot be passed
: from one person to another. Check. It is
: something a person must realize for oneself.
: Check. All anyone can do for anyone else is
: point. Check.
:
: I am sorry that you and others here find my
: words boring. That I need to have more
: entertainment value if I am to continue to
: have any stature as a fellow poster here at
: Tao Speaks. I guess I am just an old useless
: tree in a forest of sages.
:
: Again, I am truly sorry that I rub you and
: others here the wrong way when I am not
: playing the part of the fool. As a
: johnny-come-lately to Tao Speaks perhaps the
: honorable thing for me to do is withdraw.
: Detach from my attachment to this forum.
: Yes, that is perhaps what I should do.
:
: Banned for being boring, what a world, what
: a world. I'm melting, melting, ... soon
: there will be nothing left of me. Free at
: last, thank Tao almighty, free at last. Free
: to be my original self, the Self of
: existence. Awake. Born again.
:
: Chop wood, carry MasterCard.
:
: Butcho
Butcho, sigh, this seems exhausting and sad. I don't wish you to leave. Not at all! I guess it just seems that while we might have an enjoyable and engaging dialogue, (TaoSpeaks in the past has been a wonderful forum of really illuminating and challenging discussions), instead...again, it *seems*...that you're always "on", either at the pulpit preaching, or on stage doing your comedy schtick. Preaching or entertaining. No simple thoughtful exchange possible, like friends might have just hanging out together conversing. I'd actually like to sit and have a conversation with you over dinner or such. Meet the you who isn't "on", but just being.
Perhaps it's just the internet thing where we don't have the advantage of facial expressions or tone of voice to "read" what the other's saying. It does, though...always...seem as if you're talking AT us, rather than WITH us. It's just a fact no one, even very small children, like to feel talked AT.
But hey, what do I know? You're doing 'you' your way, we're each entitled to that. I shouldn't complain, it's easy enough to do something else if nothing's happening here that interests me.
There's practice, and I know when I talk to much here, it suffers from getting tangled in words and thoughts, so maybe this is my clue to "Return", turn the light awareness around to shine on the source of mind, like "moonlight falling on snow, no thought, no agenda. I get careless sometimes. This seems to be one of those times.
Taoist saying: "When going wrong, not to alter one's course can definitely be called going wrong". I self-correct, I guess that's something.
Peace,
josef
