gar,

Here's the thing.
Particles/Waves. Light. Light is the limit at which we can perceive or conceive objectively.
Beyond light, even at light, it all becomes subjective. Intuitive.
Robert is searching. But he has a ways to go to see the light. To real'ize' the light.
Anything that comes into existence goes out. Anything born dies. Robert says that something is only real when we perceive it. Make a particle of it. Material'ize' it. Acutally, all we have done is relativ'ize' It. From the Tao comes the One and the Many. From the Absolute that is not relative or absolute comes the relative. The one and the many. Self and other. No such One and the Many exists. No such self and other exists. Not noumenally, just phenomenally, relatively. Confusing the relative with the absolute as Robert is doing turns the relative into maya.
There is the noumenon. The Tao. Or whatever one wants to call the ineffable. Even the "Tao" is just a concept. Albeit the most sophisticated of all concepts. The tao that can be conceived is not the eternal Tao. We cannot reason our way to the realization of the Tao. A Tower of Babel leaves one confused no matter how thought out it is, engineered it is. Imagination is no substitute for intuition. There are phenomena, taos. And then there is make it up as you go. Or to put it more nicely, conditioned thinking. I think, therefore I think I am. No such I exists. Only the I that is Not-I is I. I AM THAT I AM.
Or as Steve puts it, "I YAM THAT I YAM". Sailor boys. I digress.
We are confused because we think phenomena are absolutely real. They are not. They are relatively real. Phenomena are like a shadow, the shadows of the Noumena. When we get to thinking that relative reality is "the" Reality then we get confused. But no matter how convincing our belief system becomes in the apparent deep down we realize something ain't quite right. Reality knows what is real, and what is passing. Only we can't put our finger on it because we try to use the same apparatus to understand what the apparatus has "created". Things. Separate things. No such separate things exist. At least not the way we "think" they do.
We cannot solve a problem with the same level of awareness that created the problem. Intuition trumps Reason. Discursive Intellection. Linear thinking cannot grasp a non-linear function.
We are reality in search of Reality. But an eye cannot see itself. Dualistic understanding cannot understand nondual Being. Let thy eye be single. It is not the eyes that see. It is awareness that sees. The eye is merely an apparatus of awareness. So the sages tell us there is only one thing we need to do to realize Reality. Turn the light around.
Look within. Look to your own being. Turn your awareness upon itself. Quit looking out there for your existential answers. That is what I am in the process of doing. Preparation takes Time for we are still centered in the shadows, in Shadow Land. Better to go all the way into the Dark where the shadows cannot go. Into the Dark Path that leads to the light of understanding, Insight.
When I am no more I will Be.
Lao Tzu was a pretty smart OldBoy. Chuang Ratzi I'm still not to sure about.
