: I don't believe in Universal Love, at least
: not one that lacks an opposite. If it does
: exists, I would apply the verse- "When
: all the world recognizes beauty as beauty,
: this in itself is ugliness." (Wu
: Trans.)
:
: Anyways, it doesn't seem to be a very Taoist
: concept, at least not for me. I say do away
: with love and the world will return to its
: natural state. In other words, 'don't do
: unto others, what you don't want them to do
: unto you.'

: It does not matter what one believes if one
: does not have love in one's heart.
:
: Butcho
:
:
: I don't believe this. My reason for this is
: because you use matter as a means to place
: social value on an action, when in fact
: actions are merely an action. Love is also a
: value we place on an action, when in fact it
: is merely an action.
:
: To say "It doesn't matter what one
: believes if one does not have love in one's
: heart" is no more true than saying
: "It doesn't matter what one believes if
: one does not have hate in his heart".
:
: I would say that it doesn't matter what one
: believes if one cannot examine his actions
: and see from whence they come.

:
:
: Aaron,
:
: The Love I was speaking about is not the
: opposite of hate. Universal love has no
: opposite for it is unconditional. The
: love/hate dichotomy you speak to is false.
: You are right about that. False because both
: are dependent upon something else, both are
: conditional. Conditional love is the same
: thing as conditional hate.
:
: The self-examination of the adept requires
: unconditional love. Otherwise it is just
: another head-trip. Just another solipsistic
: self-absorption.
:
: One must get beyond cause and effect if one
: wants to see things as they are of
: themselves.
:
: And yet the adept is not blind to causality.
: Though not of the world, the adept is still
: in it.
:
: Love is the gravity of metaphysics.
:

:
:
:
: Aaron,
:
: If you don't like the word love how about
: compassion. Do you see a place for
: compassion? Or are you simply against words
: in general?
:
: How about caritas? Agape?

:
Twinner,
Besides, I am not talking in relative terms when I use the word love. The love I am talking about has no opposite. It is nonlove love. Noumenal love. Love without any attachments. Just luuuvvv!
