: Hey everyone,
: A few months ago I was hunting anime in a
: video store and there it was, one of my
: brother's former girlfriends... On the cover
: of an vintage adult movie, at least I think
: it was her. Its a funny story about my
: stupidity and now that he has passed on I
: can tell it.
:
: I came home early from college for the
: holidays, with my parents on vacation I
: figured Mike would be kinda lonely. Boy was
: I wrong. When I walked into the house, there
: they were several adult film actresses
: playing video games and laughing. In my
: stupidity I never asked him what his new
: girlfriend did for a living.
:
: Now before we all get images let me tell you
: the reality. They were dressed in sweats,
: and without make up, quite ordinary and
: average looking. If one of them hadn't
: mentioned that they had to get into NYC
: early the next day for a shoot I wouldn't
: even had known.
:
: The reality that these women were much like
: all the other women I had ever known, not
: some fantasy women here to please my male
: ego. It was a job for them, a role they
: played that was no more real than the body
: makeup and silly lines they had to say. They
: had thoughts and feelings about all kinds of
: things that had nothing to do with anything
: sexual.
:
: It killed the fantasy for me, but the
: reality to see them as people taught me alot
: about respecting women and not objectifying
: them as body parts. As one said to me,
: "Don't be suckered in by the lie, porn
: ain't real"
:
: Great wisdom between Duck hunt levels, media
: is not real, just flickering images. Getting
: to know and love someone is very real, and
: much more exciting.

: Greetings redturtle,
:
: It seems this quote from
:
:
: might be off base in relation to your post,
: but for some reason it resonates with me.
:
:
: "The source of all mentally created
: dissatisfactions appears to stem from the
: ability to compare and contrast experiences
: and find reality as one is living it to be
: less than ideal.[citation needed] The
: solution is to seek out ways to either make
: experienced reality conform to the ideal or
: to lower expectations to the level of the
: experienced.[citation needed] When one can
: live in the moment with expectations in
: harmony with experiences one has achieved
: the greatest mental contentment possible.
: [citation needed] Variants of this pursuit
: are found in all religions and manifest in
: many forms of meditation and prayerful
: devotions."
:
: in peace,
: gar
:
P.S.
It also seems that contentment is built upon our discernment of reality. And maybe what's based on illusion, is illusional.

If you have false beliefs you will not function effectively in action. So truth is the condition of getting along well in the world. (Pragmatist)
in peace,
