Hey everyone,
A few months ago I was hunting anime in a video store and there it was, one of my brother's former girlfriends... On the cover of an vintage adult movie, at least I think it was her. Its a funny story about my stupidity and now that he has passed on I can tell it.
I came home early from college for the holidays, with my parents on vacation I figured Mike would be kinda lonely. Boy was I wrong. When I walked into the house, there they were several adult film actresses playing video games and laughing. In my stupidity I never asked him what his new girlfriend did for a living.
Now before we all get images let me tell you the reality. They were dressed in sweats, and without make up, quite ordinary and average looking. If one of them hadn't mentioned that they had to get into NYC early the next day for a shoot I wouldn't even had known.
The reality that these women were much like all the other women I had ever known, not some fantasy women here to please my male ego. It was a job for them, a role they played that was no more real than the body makeup and silly lines they had to say. They had thoughts and feelings about all kinds of things that had nothing to do with anything sexual.
It killed the fantasy for me, but the reality to see them as people taught me alot about respecting women and not objectifying them as body parts. As one said to me, "Don't be suckered in by the lie, porn ain't real"
Great wisdom between Duck hunt levels, media is not real, just flickering images. Getting to know and love someone is very real, and much more exciting.
