I don't think I'm "accepting second best", Lian Dao. I like most things being temporary - just as they are. Accepting the temporariness of stuff makes me much happier. It's only when I didn't want to let go of something that I felt all sorts of angst.
Why would I want to look for something that might not be there when I already have such precious and beautiful things in my hand right now? When it's gone...... It's gone. And it's nice to feel a bit of the sting when something I feel is precious is taken away from me...... Reminds me I'm human and still of this world.
Are you trying to lose the enjoyment of what's temporary?
