I don't think that quote came from a "translator." Maybe from someone who put their own spin on Laozi's words. I did an internet search for it and the only places I found it was on a few people's blogs and as a quote from Dyer's book. I never did think Dyer had any inkling about Dao. "Excuses Begone"? LOL
Here are a few other quotes I found attributed to Laozi on a blog, and none of them list a source:
