As I see it, Butcho, the quest or desire for 'perspective' is merely an ego-driven privileging of one side of the coin over the other. This is my problem (very small "p") with the idea of cultivation.
There is no difference--absolutely none--between a desire for perspective (aka 'enlightenment') and a desire for Haagen-Dazs Double Chocolate ice cream.
The only thing that perceives a difference between the two is your Big Bad Fat Angry "Mommy Mommy There's a Boogeyman Hiding Under My Bed" Ego, which--according to some bizarre line of reasoning--you think you can tame, calm, or conquer through the exercise of even more ego.
