I dont view it as cultivation.
You cultivated things that need to be grown, enlightenment in my humble opinion doesn't need to be grown, children are enlightened from birth; they experience without ego, without prejudice, then the process to build the ego begins in ernist and theres the problem.
I've seen this in my children, they accept everything the way it is until a certain point when they rebel against this and throw temper tantrums when they dont get their way. The process of ego building has begun.
Its forgetting the ego rather than cultivating the mind for enlightenment. Or the process of breaking it down, breaking down the prejudices built up over a life time. The enlightened mind is there underneath the weeds.
I will know when I'm enlightened when I can smell shit and not gag.
