: Regardless of who it is that thinks you
: insane, Butcho, I admire your courage and
: applaud you for coming out as a proud and
: unashamed theist.
:
: Living in the closet does none of us any
: good. The closet suffocates our potential.
: Suffocates our joy.
:
: As Nina suggested, I'm considering adding
: you to the 'Worst Daoists in the Universe'
: list.
:
: Would you have a problem with that?
:
: -----------------------
:
: Steve,
:
: How can I be on the list if I am not a
: Taoist?
:
: Or is it simply an honorary thing.
:
: If so, then put me at the top or leave me
: off.
:
: So, what caused the Big Bang?
:
: Butcho

:
: No one on the board has ever asked those
: questions, Butcho. I'll try my best to
: answer them.
:
: "How can I be on the list if I am not
: a Taoist?"
:
: Those on the list are a warning--to all the
: good Daoists on the web--of what could be.
: You know..."There but for the grace of
: God go I." Beyond that, I cannot say.
:
: You cannot start at the top. You must start
: at the bottom and claw your way to the top.
:
: Lian Dao's experience is instructive in this
: regard.
:
: "So, what caused the Big Bang?"
:
: Unknowable through our chemistries, Butcho.
:
: Personally, I'm comfortable with that.

Steve,
In the Army I learned not to look directly at my target in the dark. It seems the periphery of the eye is more adaptable to low light condtions. Little Bang.
Maybe we cannot look directly at what was before the Big Bang. But maybe we can infer what a Creator might be like from what we can measure.
With Hubble and other new technologies for measuring the Cosmos Astronomers have been very busy measuring the Universe for the past few decades.
Their measurements reveal nothing less than the fingerprints of God, or the Tao if you prefer. But not the impersonal Tao. The Tao that is transpersonal.
What most Astronomers have come to realize is that the Universe is so finely tuned, so finely crafted, that nothing less than some sort of intelligence, superintelligence, must have designed it. The Universe was designed for life. Human life being the highest form of rational life we are aware of. The list of paramaters that make the case for intelligent design is staggering. The website of one of these Astronomers can be found at www.reasons.org/
If you are ever looking at the night sky through a pair of binoculars or a telescope, remember to shift your attention to the periphery of your vision and you will see better by several magnitudes than if you just stare from the center of your field of vision.
