: Well?
:
: -----------------------------
:
: Like rat, it behooves me to leave open the
: possibility that Spiderman is, in fact, God.
:
: After all, how could I know.
:
: (And besides...anyone who looks that good in
: tights may, in fact, be God...)
:
:
:
: Lian Dao,
:
: Spider Man is a Marvel Comics Super Hero. A
: Fiction. Tights or no tights, Spidy is a
: myth at best.
:
: God, on the otherhand, I see proof of God's
: existence everywhere I look. Nature is
: overbrimming with examples of Intelligent
: Design.
:
: The Big Bang. What is that if it is not
: proof that our World had a beginning? What
: caused our World to suddenly appear from
: seemingly nothing? Time, infinite time?
: Nope. Time did not exist before the Big
: Bang. Time only moves in one direction.
: Unless of course you are living in Marvel
: World with your buddy Spidy. Chance? Nope.
: There isn't a chance in Hell that the
: Universe just 'happened' spontaneously.
: Right. Would you like to buy the Brooklyn
: Bridge, cheap. Just a million dollars, and
: it is all yours.
:
: No my friend, this world we find ourselves
: in did not just happen. It was designed.
: Ours is a just right Universe or we would
: not be here. Next you are going to tell us
: that if we give you long enough you will
: find a watch that just happened without
: anyone making it. A watch that just came
: together by chance, wound itself up, set
: itself, and then started ticking. Right.
:
: The Universe is much more complex than any
: watch. A human being is much more
: complicated than any watch. Life just
: happened. Right.
:
: Butcho
:
:
:greetings Butcho,
:
: Who made the designer?
:
: Imo, emptiness gave birth to all things.
:
: in peace,
: gar

gar,
God, for lack of a better word for that which is beyond words, the Tao if you wish, or Great Spirit in the Sky, ...., is that which created the Universe about 14 Billion years ago. Give or take a million years or so. The BIG BANG.
Our Universe had a beginning. Left to its own devices it will have an end. Long lived Stars can live for about 80 Billion years. Our Universe is a 14 year old.
As an act of bipartisanship I will go with the word "Tao" if it helps the conversation. The Tao exists both inside and outside of Time. Think of it like this if you will. The Tao is extra-dimensional. The Tao has more dimensions than the One and the Many. The Tao existed before Time began 14 Billion years ago. Time is half a dimension. It moves in only one direction. We can see back in time but we cannot go back in time except in our imaginations.
Cause and Effect are tied to Time. Cause and Effect were born at the time of the Big Bang. Time being the 4th Dimension of our 4 dimensional Universe. The Tao is not bound by Time. It created Time. Nothing created the Tao because it is timeless, eternal, without time.
Out of nothing came something. Ok. But what made something come out of nothing. Was nothing just sitting around with nothing better to do than something for nothing? Or was there something in nothing that made something out of nothing?
"From the Tao came the One and the Many". Lao Tzu. The One, the Universe, is not the creator or source of existence. The Universe and the Many mutually arose about 14 Billion years ago. All complimentarities mutually arise. All yins and yangs, yin/yangs, come in pairs. Opposite non-opposites. The Tao has no opposite.
The Tao is that which is self-existent. Taoism is not, contrary to popular opinion, pantheistic. The One and the Many are the Tao. It is panentheistic. The One and the Many exist within the Tao. The Tao exists within the One and the Many and without. Think of a Tree. A Tao Tree. The root of the tree extends into the trunk of the tree and into the branches and leaves.
The Big Bang came out of the Tao, not into the Tao. The Universe is organic. It is not simply a machine though it has machinelike qualities.
Taoism is about bringing oneself into accord with the ways of the Tao. The ways of the Source, of the Creator, of our Universe. Nature is not the Tao. Nature is simply the best sign to look at if one wants to know the nature of the Tao.
