Lian Dao,
What does being right or wrong have to do with it? I am not a scholar. I am a mystic. You must have me confused with Bao Pu or rat. Nor am I a Taoist. I am that I am. In this case, I am a Taoist sympathizer. Reality is a real metaphor.
What I am pointing to is beyond right or wrong, beyond dualistic conception. I recommend the same way of bringing oneself into accord with the Way of the eternal Tao as does Lao Tzu and Dogen. Through the negation of negation until one realizes the great affirmation. Or back, if you prefer, to nondualistic awareness. Though back isn't really the "right" word either. Nonduality is timeless.
I am not so sure we are growing, evolving, as we are remembering what we have been all along. We seem to have "Fallen" and most of us are having a hard time getting back up. Or if you prefer a different metaphor we appear to have fallen asleep mesmerized by our capacity to think in a way that seems rational when left to its own devices and most of us are having a hard time waking back up. Or if you prefer we must be born again. Same thing. No one can do it for us. Others can share what they see, but only we can look for ourselves. Isn't that great news. The Tao is open to everyone.

"The Tao is basically utterly open. Utter openeness has no substance. It ends in endlessness, begins in beginninglessnes".
