Operating your car and operating your humanness are two different things, mate.
You weren't born knowing how to drive a car or tie your shoelaces. For that, you needed manuals and masters.
You were, however, born with everything you need to know about being Lian Dao. Those instructions came hardcoded in the merchandise.
You may choose to pretend that there's something to learn about being Lian Dao, and that the masters 'know' better than you on that account.
I say, phooey to that.
