Boycott is a weapon. Anybody can wield it. No, I don't recall it being a particularly Fascist weapon, could you refresh my memory? To me, it seems a nonviolent way for those at the grass-roots level to protest. After all, the real Fascists--the corporatized state and its CEOs--are the ones who want us to be consumers instead of citizens. In that case, boycott is about the only voice we get.
We will have to agree to disagree on the Olympics. Here is what I predict: Beijing will arrest its homeless, its prostitutes, and any dissidents just prior to the games in a big sweep that the press will ignore. (Los Angeles did this, you may recall). People in the Potemkin Village will be ousted from their homes without recompense. Games will be played by children whose unnatural lives have been diverted to this purpose. Large corporations will make millions of dollars. The citizens of Peiking will be left with a big tax bill for years.
And that's what the Olympics are all about. Go team!
Waywardly,
