: And this runs directly counter to much
: "ancient wisdom!"
: The "Diamond Sutra" begings by
: asking, amost other things, "how can I
: control my mind?" Indeed, meditation
: techniques are basically about controlling
: the mind. And it's not passive control, it's
: sitting on the mind and whipping it into
: shape!
:
: I disagree, Fastovsky, that's exactly what
: the old wisdom is about. It's not about
: "sitting on the mind and whipping it
: into shape", but being aware of what
: mind is doing, observing the activity of
: thought, and in that state of bare, direct
: attention thoughts aren't being churned out,
: mind settles and falls quiet naturally,
: effortlessly.
:
The problem inherent in your system Josef is, are you simply thinking about not thinking the thoughts you are thinking? If so then perhaps there is a conditional distinction, that being of a dualistic nature, between your mind, or individual, cognitive thought and Mind as such?
