And this runs directly counter to much "ancient wisdom!"
The "Diamond Sutra" begings by asking, amost other things, "how can I control my mind?" Indeed, meditation techniques are basically about controlling the mind. And it's not passive control, it's sitting on the mind and whipping it into shape!
