    it is interesting that media focuses so much time on celebrities,sports stars,and the social elete;espessially when there are so many other stories that are so pressing to our local areas.However I cant help but use my brain just a little to see that in both news stories that you have highlighted Michelle the burdon of the fault lies mostly on you and me.The media companies will only for the most part write about what we want to read thats how they make money.They find out about what we want to read about by analizing what stories get read,and then placing their top writers on those kinds of stories.
    Lets look at it this way.Take a total of how much money you spent last year on going to the movies,renting vidio or dvd,buying any tickets to any entetainment,and how much time you spent watching television(time is money)after you have come up with that total you can say that is a consevative estimate of how much you spent on the entertainment industy last year.Now let me ask you what was the amount of money or time you spent helping wayward young kids that could grow up to commit crimes in your own community last year?
    Every major city in the U.S.A with little exeption has some kind of professional sports team.In some cities Just one major player could be paid as much as 10,or 20 million dollars for a couple of seasons of ball(name it).Yet at the same time that very city will have a hard time even coming up with just one million lousy dollars to feed hungry families.20 to 50 thousand might show up to a professional sports event in that city,but wayward rejected chidren sit alone even at Christmas,we even feel proud of ourselves if we spent a couple of minutes with one of these kids.That is of course after spending two hours viewing our favorite sports event or tv show;maybe even a movie.
    In short the media covers exactly what we tell it to and I think its obvious Michelle what You ad I are telling it.
