Winona is human just like the rest of us.

Personally, after seeing the video and hearing the testimony, I think she's guilty. But so what? Who among us hasn't done something or another to get us into trouble? We couldn't possibly imagine what it must be like for a 'movie star' to live under the spotlight all the time and have every single mistake we have ever made blown out of proportion and have everyone know. Do most of us know what it's like to not be able to walk down a sidewalk without being hassled or mobbed by people because we are a 'celebrity'? Winona probably did what a lot of other women do at one point or another for whatever reason: shoplift. I'm not a psychologist and don't know why, I only know that it is an excusable offense and this whole trial is ridiculous. Just give her probation like they would to anyone else who is not a 'star'. I feel that Winona is a wonderful woman. But how do we know how we would react to living the life of a star? Maybe she just wants someone to care for her..someone to love her for what she really is and not some fantasy on the screen. No wonder she appeared wearing a 'Free Winona' shirt.
