Go ahead, write the script. Anything can happen. Hey, know what one of the hottest Broadway tickets in New York is shaping up to be? Musical version of "Hairspay". Now if you had said to me back in the 80's,'Big Daddy, would a movie with Rikki Lake and Divine playing her mother be funny or even possible?" I would have died laughing. If you had asked me last year;"Big Daddy would a musical version of 'Hairspray' be possible or star Harvey Firestein?" I would have laughed even harder. AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN 100% WRONG IN BOTH CASES. Go down to the book store, get a guide on how to write screenplays, and start wailing. Put in every funny sequence you can think of. (By the way, have patience and a large garbage can. Your first two or three stabs will most likely be dreck. Also keep in mind screen plays...except those written by James Agee and a couple of other masters..are not great literature. They are directions for a team of people to get something done.)Start with a good story and go from there. And be prepared to get absolutely nowhere with it..but be able to say it was a lot of fun to do. I mean, if I'll put down money to see Divine as Rikki Lakes' mom, can Liza as the mother of Winona be that big a stretch? Could it be any worse then "Glitter"?
