Hello, I am not sure if you have solved your problem, but I unfortunately just put my 4yr old weim to sleep due to uncontrollable people chasing. I had also sturggled with training my weim Simon. At 6 months old he ate his crate, yes, pulled the door into the crate and crawled out, then proceeded to eat my basement door, yes the entire bottom was completely eaten, and for the past four years, has been eating my back door molding to get out of the house when I left. He has severe seperation anxiety. He was the best dog I ever owned in my life, and was remarkable with my 3 children, 4,3,1. My 4yr old son still cries over him and wants him to come home, and it has only been one week. I regret it terribly, however, he had gotten to a point where I had no means of containing him at all. I fenced in my yard, and he ate the wire inside the fence and got out under the fence, he broke off chains that could pull a boat. I used to run with him, and a 6 mile run would be a warm up for him. He was unbelievably smart, but unfortunately, he would chase the kids in the neighborhood and neighbors, and I couldnt take the risk of him biting anyone. I loved the dog more than anything and I must say I regret my decision, but on the other hand, I do have a family that I can not allow to be second to a dog. If you are going to commit to keeping this puppy, he will need extremely strict training, and try an electric fence with the max setting to start. If you can not to commit to intense training and serious containment, you may end up like me. My dog Simon was my baby, and I wish there were more people willing to admit to the massive amount of work involved to raising a well rounded weim. They are the most affectionate family dogs you will ever own, but there is much more to the weim than love. The have endless energy, and the require strict training, constantly, dont stop at puppy training. I hope I have helped a little. I really miss my baby, and I hope you can save yours now, it is definitely no too late to work on bad habits, the weim is definitely worth it.
: I have a 1 year old female Weim and I have had the most difficult time getting
: her to do what I want her to do... She is so misbehaved, I am really not sure
: what to do anymore! I want to beleive that she is still in her puppy stage
: (which I am sure she is) but I see no end in sight. I read on a website that
: Weims are known to be the devil and an angel rolled up in one! This is so true
: in Sadie's case. At one year old she is yet to be housetrained... I have tried
: a whole variety of training techniques that have not worked! It would be one
: thing if I ignored her plea to go out, but she won't even tell me anymore! She
: knows that she is not supposed to be doing this because she hides under the
: kitchen table... even before I get the spray bottle out (our crueless way of
: punishment). Crate-training? Forget about it! She gets let out of the crate
: sopping wet! She is covered in pee! This is only one problem I have that I need
: help on... if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to email!
