Posted by nibor They are known to be angels disguised as devils at times. If you haven't had one before, the linked quiz in this response is really good, even for current owners! Another good article: http://www.weimclubamerica.org/yourweim/crate_training.html There can be a combination of reasons for this behavior. All of the replies given in this forum down at the thread "Wet crate - Allison 11/3/2003, 2:01 pm" are good reads. This one too, "Re: Crating - Anne 10/15/2003, 7:50 pm". So, take a look at those as well as the article and the link at the bottom of the page and see if anything 'rings a bell'. Also a 1 year old is still a puppy or young dog. Their bladders haven't yet matured and need release more often than adult dogs, but you probably already know that. Weims are all different, just like people. But, I've never met a Weim that didn't want to impress and show and receive attention and affection from their owner. So it could easily be health related. One comment. I know that some of the suggestions are to use a spray bottle. I don't care for this method as it can make some of them afraid of water... ie getting a bath! My personal preference is a rolled up magazine taped so it doesn't fall apart. In the early years, we kept a different one in just about every room. Immediate action is important as the quicker they're informed about their bad behavior, the better. Now that ours are older... if they do something I don't like... I just pick it up and wave it at them with a bit of loud language. They know exactly what that means. --Previous Message-- Link: Are You Ready for a Weimaraner?

Hi Carrie,
But in giving you these, please don't think I'm putting you off.
: I have a 1 year old female Weim and I have had the most difficult time getting
: her to do what I want her to do... She is so misbehaved, I am really not sure
: what to do anymore! I want to beleive that she is still in her puppy stage
: (which I am sure she is) but I see no end in sight. I read on a website that
: Weims are known to be the devil and an angel rolled up in one! This is so true
: in Sadie's case. At one year old she is yet to be housetrained... I have tried
: a whole variety of training techniques that have not worked! It would be one
: thing if I ignored her plea to go out, but she won't even tell me anymore! She
: knows that she is not supposed to be doing this because she hides under the
: kitchen table... even before I get the spray bottle out (our crueless way of
: punishment). Crate-training? Forget about it! She gets let out of the crate
: sopping wet! She is covered in pee! This is only one problem I have that I need
: help on... if anyone has any suggestions please feel free to email!
