You are correct in your assumption that a female would be a better companion for a male dog. If male dogs are raised together it might not be a big issue, but anytime a full grown male is put to test with another male of young or old age aggression issues and fight for dominance will more than likely take place. I have an older male dog and we had to find another home for a male puppy we had gotten, but he had no problem with the female dogs, be they either young or old. Good luck in getting a female weim.
