During the late 19th and early 20th century, at the peak of transoceanic travel, how frequently were steamships drydocked?
Companies like Red Star Line and Cunard had a fairly large fleet, but a ship in for routine maintenance would mean at least 2-4 voyages of 1-3000 passengers lost by that vessel.
We frequently talk about how routinely navies drydock their ships, but I feel like this is a part of history that is left out.
