You may wish to read the politics behind the scenes concerning FDR.
But the challenges faced (and defeated) by FDR were many times greater than Mr Lincoln's
FDR took an American economy still traumatized by the Great Depression and built it into the greatest powerhouse the world had ever known. (194,000 aircraft?-not possible!!) The soldiers of many American allies wore their American-made uniforms while riding in American-built trucks or tanks and eating US-provided rations.
FDR held together a fractious alliance, whose other main members were united only in their mistrust of the other. There were two primary fronts, on opposite sides of the world, with very different foes and their own logistical nightmares.
He inspired the United Nations. For the most part, he held together the home front.
He picked great admirals and soldiers to lead American troops.
I would argue Lincoln over FDR as war time CINC, although not as strong in the naval sphere.
The greatest Commander in chief in the history of our Republic, FDR, died.
