I've primered and painted PE while still on the fret for a long time. When you have items like cranes that fold into box-shapes, it becomes impossible to paint the insides after they are folded, and bare brass will be visible. Some minor touch-ups will be needed after removing from fret and folding. As for figures...you need infinite patience, and infinite figures - lots of them are going to ping off into space! Some modellers hate PE figures, but I have used pre-painted Eduard figures - saves a lot of frustration trying to hand-paint them.
Let me start off that I am officially blown away by the quality of Toms Modelworks 1/700 USS Arkansas. The casting is immaculate!
1. For rigging, what size line is best in this scale?
2. Since the 3d parts come on intricate runners, should I invest in some new sprue cutters? What do y’all recommend?
3. It’s been some time since I’ve worked with PE. I see people priming the sheets with metal primer now. Is this something new?
4. Am I crazy to think about adding 1/700 scale figures to populate her deck?
Thanks.
