I consider them to be more of a craftsman style kit. Depending on how good the cast is, they usually need a good amount of basic scratchbuilding. Most of this though is not a problem anymore because of the availability of 3D printed parts.
Take for instance, the USS Texas 1944 kit. The entire main and aft mast need to be completely rebuilt. The main guns were replaced with brass A good amount of gun tubs needed to be cut out and replaced and I had to fill voids on parts like intake vents and ammo lockers.
They are doable, but I think not intended for the newbie crowd. And plus if you ever need replacement parts including PE, they'll send them no questions asked.
Greetings guys, I am just wondering if anyone has had any issues with Iron shipwrights kits??? Has anyone else received parts all broken in bags resembling "kitty litter"? I am disappointed to say the least, and don't want to "run down" anyone, but I even emailed them expressing my problem only to be ghosted..I have the New Mexico kit, near $400 bucks, for that you should be able to build the model.. any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..
