To employ "real modellers" would not help. There was some questions here, which kits people want - and there was hardly anything, which was mentioned several times or supported by others. The interests are too diverse. I know several people, who really want a 1/700 kit of the carrier Queen Elizabeth - but would never buy a 1/350 kit of the liner Queen Elizabeth or a 1/350 kit of the carrier (and vice versa).
There are also still modellers, who like 1/400...
I never would dare to predict, which kit will be successful - especially for plastic kits. I hardly buy plastic kits, because for me there are so few, which cover ships I am interested in. For 3D printed and resin kits, I think that there is a slight chance that such a prediction could be right, because there are not so many, who will buy them and not so many samples have to be sold to make a kit economically viable.
