Possible mod from a Fairy III.
Although, HMS Royal Oak appears not have been carrying an assigned float plane in 1939, she did have aerial recognition letters "RO" painted in white on the turret roof tops of B and Y turrets.
Thank you for the help. I was thinking there may not have been a float plane by then but was not sure.
According to the book: Fleet Air Arm Aircraft, Units and Ships 1920 to 1939 by Ray Sturtivant with Dick Cronin, HMS Royal Oak was assigned a Fairey Seal (float plane) from February 1937 to October 1938 which was not embarked onboard and no aircraft is noted as assigned in 1939.
I can't seem to find the answer I need. I'm trying to find out which model float plane HMS Royal Oak had on board in WW2.
