As a retired fixed wing Naval Aviator, I am speculating here.But it's probably faster. I.E. you don't have to stow and re-stow hoses, chocks, chains and get personnel out of the way. It could be even safer. On deck the helo would need to be chocked and chained, with a FOD walk down prior. Also the ship might have to change course to get the proper wind across the stern for a safe landing to be accomplished. Time is also saved in the landing, shutdown, prestart, start and takeoff check lists and evolutions. Plus the crew gets more flight time :>)
